Car Filter Changes Are More Important Than You Might Think

Whether you drive a car, truck, CUV, or SUV, you need to make sure to have your vehicle’s filters changed when they need it. These auto parts are more important than they might seem. They protect your engine and you. Aero Auto Repair can change your filters, fluids, belts, and hoses when it’s time for these factory-scheduled services. Replacing these automotive parts extends the life of your automobile and keeps it running efficiently. Let’s talk about the different car filters in your vehicle in this blog post.

Cabin Air Filter

Your cabin air filter is the filter that cleanses the air before it is blown into your car’s interior. This air filter generally lasts about 30,000 miles. Changing the cabin air filter ensures that you always have fresh air blowing through your vents. This helps prevent your car from making you sick. Much like office buildings, stale and contaminated air in your car can make you feel drowsy, increase any allergic reactions you might have, give you a headache, and give you a general feeling of sickness.

Engine Air Filter

Just like you need fresh air, your engine needs fresh air, too. All automobiles have combustion engines, and what this means is that air is mixed with either diesel fuel or gasoline, pushed into the cylinders, and ignited by the spark plugs. This starts the combustion that your vehicle needs to run. The air filter purifies the air drawn in from outside before it makes its way into the combustion chamber. It’s crucial to change this car filter every 12,000 miles, otherwise, you run the risk of contaminating your engine.

Fuel Filter

The fuel filter does for your fuel with the air filter does for the air. It purifies the diesel fuel or gasoline before it is sprayed into the combustion chamber by the fuel injectors. Gas has natural contaminants and sediment in it, and your gas tank can get dirty over time. The fuel filter makes certain none of this grime ends up in your engine where it can damage it. Changing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles is recommended. If you haven’t driven 30,000 miles in two years, change the fuel filter anyway.

Oil Filter

Finally, you probably already know this but your oil filter is changed every time you get an oil change. This means that your car gets a new oil filter every 3,000 miles, 5,000 miles, or 7,500 miles, depending on your vehicle’s schedule. Changing this filter can literally save your engine’s life. As the oil travels through the engine to lubricate parts and cool everything down, it also draws away dirt. The oil flows through the filter to remove the dirt that it has collected before it circulates through your engine again.
